So! We have a woodstove that heats our house in the winter. We have a good amount of wood left over from last year. Son-in-law James coordinating our orders. I’ll take 2 cords, please. Channeling John on this project (recently departed husband). Wood comes, sits in driveway. I can do this. I am stubborn and determined. Neighbors offer to help. Thank you, I can do this. I’m a turtle, slow and steady. Neighbor Rob then offers his wheelbarrow. Thank you, I’ll take it. Ours broke at the end of the season. Neighbor Tom calls, will help me on Sunday. Brother-in-Law Charlie says let me just get it started, 20 minutes. Thank you, Charlie, I can do this. This afternoon I was called to the front yard to find 6 ready-and-willing young men from NYMA offering to help me with the wood. Neighbor Nancy arrived on the scene offering her wheelbarrow, too. Thank you NYMA’s Dean, Christine McDonald, for organizing this community service. Thank you, Cadets Rashawn, Kevin, Jeff, Aristotle, Abdoul, and Joshua. I am humbled by this true labor of love. My wood is stacked. There are no words, Only emotions and heartfelt gratitude. ❤
