In Their Own Words
Life at the New York Military Academy
"Boarding a NYMA has given me life-long bonds that I will never lose. I've had experiences and opportunities that I would never have had at another school. NYMA has made the person I am today with skills I never imagined having at my age."

"if you plan to go somewhere far in life, NYMA is the place to start. NYMA sets you up for a successful life, no matter what field you want to pursue."

"New York Military Academy inspires leaders. Focusing on leadership and character it teaches students discipline. It gives the younger generation the skills for the future."

"NYMA gives a whole new perspective on life, no other school will give you. The brotherhood bond you get here is great. You cannot say you lived your life if you haven't lived in the barracks. Memories you create here you will keep with you the rest of your life."

"NYMA prepares you for the adult world. It is an immersive and challenging environment for cadets to grow mentally and physically. Cadets learn how to manage their resources and grow as independent adults in order to succeed in the outside world. Unlike other private schools, NYMA's distinct environment develops skillsets students at other schools will never achieve."

"You aren't getting the full experience of the New York Military Academy without being in the barracks. The bonds you form, the brotherhood you build and the memories you make are unlike any other school's experience. Unlike most schools, NYMA provides a great balance of rigorous academics, strenuous athletics, and structured military regiment."

"Cadet life is very different from that of most teenagers. It teaches you self reliance and discipline. These two things can help you mature as a person, and give you a stable foundation for your life as an adult."

"When I was in public school I struggled with time management. Cadet life at NYMA has definitely helped me with schedules and getting the most out of every day. It has taught me to always remain on time and be a responsible cadet, student, and person. Fellow cadets are always there to help and guide you along the way."

"Cadet Life at NYMA is tough, but in a good way. You're thrust into a new environment, and you're challenged. Along the way you learn many things, gain new skills, and make friends that will last a lifetime."

"NYMA is about leadership. Before I came to NYMA I did not understand the power of leadership. Leadership is character and leadership is responsibility. I learned this at NYMA and it will help me when I leave school for the real world."

"When I first came to NYMA I knew little English, but after studying and with three years of hard work I am not only comfortable speaking but also leading. NYMA taught me to never give up and I know I will be successful."

Being a Member of the Corps

At the New York Military Academy cadets engage in a total experience that challenges their mind, body, and character — and provides rewards that last a lifetime.
In addition to a rigorous academic schedule, cadets participate in competitive sports (a requirement for every cadet). And, on a residential military campus, cadets experience a highly structured experience and together are driven by a shared commitment to honor, respect, and service.
