Earlier today NYMA students delivered 50 blessing bags to Safe Homes of Orange County in Newburgh.
Safe Homes of Orange County’s mission is to work toward the elimination of intimate partner violence and human trafficking by providing comprehensive support services to victims and their children. They aim to increase public awareness about these issues and encourage accountability for perpetrators.
The director explained that when victims finally have the courage to flee, they often leave everything they own behind so as to not raise any suspicions. We were told that the items that the cadets purchased were perfect because they are not covered by food stamps. They were extremely appreciative and will be posting our picture on their Facebook page. We wanted to pass this gratitude on to you for helping to make this happen!
