Privileges

All privileges must be earned.  No privileges are carried over from year to year and the awards of certain privileges are determined by performance. 

Once approved by the Commandant, the following privileges MAY be granted to:

CADET OFFICERS

a.            Have a small refrigerator in their room

b.            Use the CAC during free time

SENIORS

Seniors are granted the privilege to wear civilian clothing while on LOB and when leaving on furlough.

DEAN’S LIST: HIGH HONORS & HONORS

Cadet High Honor and Honor’s Scholars, privileges for the end of the first marking period for all Cadets in grades 9-12.

High Honors Scholars: Those Cadets with a 90 average or above in every class and in good standing (see “good standing” requirements below), will be entitled to the following privileges during the second semester:

a.            Exempt from ESP on Tuesdays and Thursdays and able to utilize gym, weight room and CAC facilities on campus from *1900-2030 hours.

b.            Eligible to submit a pass request to the Assistant to the Commandant on Tuesdays and Thursdays for LOB from *1830-2030 hours.

c.             Eligible to submit a pass request to the Assistant to the Commandant for approval to go to the movies or another scheduled activity on Thursdays from *1900-2130 hours. (Seniors may dress in appropriate civilian attire)

d.            Eligible to return from Open Weekends at *2100 hours.

e.            Return from leave/furlough at *1900 hours unless otherwise directed by the Commandant.

Honors Scholars: Those Cadets with an 85 average or above in every class in good standing, regardless of rank, will have the following privileges:

a.            Exempt from ESP on Tuesdays and able to utilize gym, weight room and CAC facilities on campus from *1900-2030 hours.

b.            Eligible to submit a pass request to the Assistant to the Commandant on Tuesdays for LOB from *1830-2030 hours.

c.             Eligible to submit a pass request to the Assistant to the Commandant to go to the movies on Thursdays from *1900-2130 hours. (*Seniors may dress in appropriate civilian attire).

d.            Eligible to return from Open Weekends at *1900 hours.

e.            Return from leave/furlough at *1900 hours unless otherwise directed by the Commandant.

* Cadets who return late will lose this privilege the next leave or furlough.

 

For the purpose of High Honor and Honor privileges, a Cadet in “Good Standing” includes the following:

a.            The Cadet is not on tours, or does not have morning PT for disciplinary reasons.

b.            The Cadet remains at the Honors or High Honors level during the interim periods. Failure to do so will terminate privileges. 

c.             The Cadet is not restricted to campus for any reason.

d.            The Cadet is not athletically ineligible for academic or disciplinary reasons.

e.            The Cadet does not have more than 3 unexcused absences in an interim grading period.

All recognized Cadets who meet a 75% average in Academics, and are not failing a class, are entitled to cell phone usage. Determination of each Cadets Academic standing will be checked at each grading period.

Cadets who meet the Academic standards are entitled to their Cell Phones and will not be required to turn in their phones. Cadets who do not meet the standard will be required to turn their cell phone in to the TAC, Sunday evening prior to TAPS. The phone will be returned to the Cadet Friday afternoon, after the Academic day

The following restrictions are placed on cell phone usage:

                -Cell phones may not be seen or heard during class time.

                -No use of cell phones in the following buildings: Academic Building, Mess Hall, Library, or Scarborough at any time

                -Cell phones are to be turned in by New Cadets on Sunday night, and returned to them Friday after athletics

                -AI Cadets must turn in their cell phones on Sunday night, and can take them out again after athletics on Friday

                -Cell phones are to be used by their owners only

Authorized Cadets may have their phones at all times, as long as it does not break any of the previously mentioned policies. Disregarding these policies will result in immediate confiscation of the Cadet’s cell phone.
