Meet The AOG Board

President: A.J. Sabath

 

 

 


 

 

A.J. Sabath, NYMA Class of '88, is a registered lobbyist and owner of the Advocacy and Management Group, Inc.  He is the former Commissioner of the NJ Department of Labor and Workforce Development and former Chief Staff to the NJ Senate President. AJ holds a Bachelors Degree of Social Work from Ramapo College of NJ where he also serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

First Vice President: Brian Coyle

Brian Coyle, NYMA Class of 1977, has been serving on the A.O.G. Board for the past fifteen years. He is an active member of Holy Trinity Parish, Hackensack, NJ: Parish Council, Boy Scouts Troop 5, Religious Education Instructor & Youth Group Advisor. Brian is also a member of the Knights of Columbus Trinity Council 747 Hackensack, NJ. (3rd degree Past Grand Knight, 4th Degree Pilot as well as a Color Corp member). He served on the advisory board of the Boy's & Girl's Club of Hackensack and Lodi, NJ for several years. Brian is a Licensed Independent Insurance Agent living in Hackensack, NJ with his wife Patti and daughters Brianna & Shannon.


Second Vice President: Rich Segebre

Richard Segebre, NYMA Class of 1987, is a graduate of Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service, where he did undergraduate work in International Politics and Latin American studies, as well as, graduate work in Geopolitics and National Security Studies. He was a New York City based banker at JP Morgan's Private Bank, focusing on ultra-high net worth clients in the Andean countries of South America. Rich earned his Juris Doctor degree from St. Thomas University.

 

Secretary: Claudette Beerman

Claudette Beerman, NYMA Class of '87, has worked in the Non-Profit and Social Work fields for over 20 years and lives in Haverhill, MA. She is active as a Class Agent and member of the Events Committee. Claudette's work specialty is in the Older American, Medicare issues, Non-profit, Resource Assistance and grant writing. She is also very active in volunteer work because it takes everyone to make a difference.

 

Treasurer: Barry Glover

Barry Glover, NYMA Class of 1974, originally from Queens, New York, has recently returned to school after a 25 year absence. He has served in the U.S. Army as the administrative assistant to a colonial and the U.S. Air Force Reserve as an air crew loadmaster. After military service Barry obtained his AA degree with the intention of sitting for the CPA exam and instead raised his family. He has been an independent professional accountant and consultant for 25 years with office privileges with a local CPA firm. Barry is currently enrolled in the University of Phoenix to complete my bachelors with the intent to sit for my professional credential. His hobbies include walking, music, cooking, bowling, reading and backgammon. He resides in Southern California with his spouse Tracy and our blended family of 5 children and 5 grandchildren.

 

Assistant Treasurer: David Topps

David Topps, NYMA Class of 1972, graduated from the University of the South, Sewanee, TN in 1976, with a degree in Medieval European History.  He finished his MBA at Auburn University in the spring of 1979 and began teaching at NYMA that fall.  David also served as NYMA Assistant Director of Admissions from 1983 to 1985.  In the fall of '85 he began teaching in the Monroe-Woodbury Central School District.  He is looking forward to retirement in June, 2015.  David and his wife Cindy currently live in Cornwall, NY.

Sergeant at Arms: Theodore R. Dobias

Theodore R. Dobias, NYMA Class of 1948, "The Maj", after graduation, returned to the academy to begin a 50-year career with his alma mater. He mentored many of us as a TAC and also as a coach. In 1998, "Dobie" retired from the academy. He and his wife currently live in Cornwall, NY.

AOG Liaison to NYMA Board of Trustees: Richard Gerlach

 

Richard Gerlach, NYMA Class of 1978, attended NYMA from 1970 thru graduation in 1978 and went on to graduate from Texas A & M with a BA in Political Science. He started with Dominos, while still attending Texas A & M, first a delivery guy, but very soon worked his way up to becoming a successful Multi Area Franchisee with locations in NY, NJ, and Ca. After leaving Dominos, he became involved as Chief Financial Officer for several international transportation and logistics companies. Currently Rich sits on the Board of Trustees as Treasurer, as well as Associates of Graduates. Rich is currently married to wife, Claudia and they have 5 children and 4 grandchildren. They currently reside in San Ramon Ca.
