Why NYMA?- Academics
Parents and applicants are looking for a rigorous and supportive
academic program that offers the attention from teachers a small class
size can provide. NYMA provides a learning environment that is free
from the distractions that keep students from doing their best work.
- Athletics
NYMA provides a wide range of varsity and junior varsity sports
throughout the year that enhance character development, promote healthy
competition, and instill the personal desire to maintain physical
fitness. We begin the fitness process in middle school through
participation in a modified athletic program.
- Character
Developing character by teaching accountability and taking
responsibility for one's actions promotes confidence and self-esteem to
always do what is right. Our JROTC curriculum
concentrates on the essentials of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
- Leadership
Developing future leaders is an important component of the JROTC curriculum where cadets learn leadership skills in Leadership Education Training (LET) classes then practice these skills everyday in real-life situations in the Corps of Cadets as they are given increasing levels of responsibility
in supervising, leading and instructing fellow cadets.
- Diversity
NYMA is fortunate to have a richly diverse student body, representing many different ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds, and our international students from around the world with their diverse backgrounds add immeasurably to multi-cultural opportunities beyond the classroom.
- Location
Conveniently located one hour north of New York City, NYMA is easily
accessible by car, bus or train, and major airports; LaGuardia and JFK
in NYC, Newark Int'l in New Jersey and Stewart International Airport in
Newburgh, NY. This enables cadets and families to travel easily to and
from NYMA.
