Robert P. Stiller '61

Robert Stiller entered New York Military Academy in 1957. While at the academy, he was an honor cadet and participated in varsity cross country, track and basketball. In his senior year, he was elected vice-president of his school fraternity, Delta Sigma Nu (DSN).
After graduating from NYMA, Mr. Stiller went on to receive a bachelor's degree in administration and accounting from Parsons College and then attended Syracuse University for three years studying industrial engineering.
Mr. Stiller began his career with Stillman Manufacturing. After that company was acquired by Teledyne, Inc., he co-founded Robert Burton Associates, which, when sold in 1980, had a 25% share of the American cigarette paper market.
He then founded what was to become Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Inc. in 1993. The company began public trading and by 2001, had sales in excess of $95,000,000, a five-year average annual sales growth rate of 24%.
Green Mountain Coffee has over 550 employees and was selected as one of Fortune Small Business magazine's "Top 100 fastest growing small companies in America." The company has also been selected as one of Forbes magazine's "200 best small companies in America."
In addition to increasing the wealth of its shareholders, Green Mountain also enriches the community by donating 5% of pre-tax profits to nonprofit organizations. Over the past several years, Green Mountain has initiated and supported many projects in coffee growing areas, as well as helping local communities.
In October 2001, Robert Stiller was the first recipient of Forbes "Entrepreneur of the Year" award. He was also named one of the "top 10 leaders and successful CEOs" for 2001 by Investor Business Daily.
