Summer Adventure Program
Check in July 7th 2:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M. for Full and First Session
“UNPLUG & EXPLORE” this summer at New York Military Academy Summer Adventure program designed with nature in mind. Set in the verdant Hudson Valley, the program allows students to become one with the outdoors, being divided into two two-week sessions. Each session is further subdivided into a week of land-based activities and a week of water-based activities. The Adventure Program provides students with the skills needed to safely and independently explore and appreciate the outdoors. In this technological world, it is important to GET OUTSIDE and enjoy nature.
With land-based activities that focus on conservation and survival, students will learn how to co-exist with nature through proper campsite set-up, campfire cuisine and wilderness survival skills. For the thrill seeker, there will be multiple guided hikes, rappelling and rock climbing. Some activities will be structured, others will be student-driven, and almost all will be conducted outside. The camp is ideally geared toward youths who are willing or eager to spend most of the time outside, and a significant portion of that time away from technology and modern conveniences.
Having mastered the land, students will then take to New York’s abundant lakes and rivers, learning to master various activities on the water. There, they will be instructed in kayaking fundamentals and emergency maneuvers. Students will learn to work cooperatively in canoes and will become familiar with the local aquatic landscapes during excursions to nearby lakes, down the Hudson, and to Bannerman’s Island. Students will develop an understanding of how waterways work, connect and why they are so important.
New York Military Academy has designed this Summer Adventure Program, so that by the end of the program, students will have a greater appreciation for what is right outside their doors.
Join us for a memorable adventurous experience.
